Dave & His Crew
David Jeffrey Rose Jr
March 11, 1981 - December 9, 2006
From the time David was a baby he loved to be in motion. Whether it was riding in his parents car or truck, or playing with his own "fleet" of vehicles, or riding his toy train around the living room; he loved the action, and of course the faster the better! As Dave grew he spent hours perfecting his skills on bicycles, skating on his half pipe, riding his dirt bikes, skiing and snowboarding the slopes, or driving the quarter mile strip at New England Drag way in Epping, New Hampshire, he was always on the go. When he wasn't in motion he was reading and studying on how to dissemble his cars, bikes, or even his snowboard to see what made them go and then he would put them back together to go a little faster. Dave liked the older American muscle cars, he particularly liked the Camaros. He bought his first Camaro when he was 14. It was a '69 with a 454 big block and a rock crusher transmission in it! He quickly mastered the art of doing amazing smoke shows in his yard. Of course as any "car guy" will tell you, one car is never enough and this was just the beginning of what became a long line up of Camaros and other Chevy's.
Dave and many of his friends went to Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School and specialized in Auto Tech. Many days after school were spent taking each other’s cars apart and tweaking them. Many of those friends are the core members of "Dave's Crew", who are responsible for putting together the annual car show in their friend’s memory. At Dave's Memorial service there was story after story from people that didn't really know Dave, but they all had stories about the night when their car broke down and either themselves or a friend called Dave and how Dave either fixed their car, call AAA, or at worst gave them a ride home. He was a friend to all. Dave loved his friends and family and could normally be found where the laughter was loudest. Dave loved being with the "little ones" at family gatherings. A big kid with a big heart. David's death has been a great loss to his family, friends, and co-workers, as he was loved by all. A scholarship fund has been set up in David's memory for those individuals attending Blackstone Valley Tech in Upton and who are planning to further their career in Auto Technology as David did.
"Dave's Crew" is the name Dave's friends decided upon for themselves, sort of like a pit crew. The members are made up of friends that went to school with Dave at BVT, family members, and others are married or engaged to members of Dave's Crew. Each brings their own special talents to the group. Whether it be soliciting donations, passing out flyers, acting as liaison with the Upton Men's club, counting ballots, or helping to park cars at the car show, they are all important. They show up for meetings on a regular basis and are dedicated to putting on a show that David would have enjoyed. Dave's crew has worked hard since the idea for the car show came about on December 9th, 2006. Dave would be proud of them all as we, Dave's parents and family are. We hope that even if you don't bring a car that you might stop by and say hello and enjoy a good family friendly car show.
